Joins Brighton on five-year deal

Rego signed with Brighton on a five-year contract from Benfica for undisclosed terms, the club announced.

Analysis: Rego made five first-team appearances for Benfica last season, including his Champions League debut as a late substitute in a 2-0 win over Ajax in November before making his first league start four days later in a victory over Nacional. The 21-year-old Portuguese under-21 international winger came through the academies of Porto and Famalicao before joining Benfica in 2023, and his arrival gives Brighton an exciting young talent with Champions League experience despite his limited senior appearances to date. Technical director Mike Cave expressed confidence in the club's ability to help Rego continue his development and reach his full potential at the next stage of his career.
