Amorim
Returns off bench Saturday
Amorim (ankle) came off the bench for eight minutes in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Roma.
Analysis: Amorim got through a brief cameo in Saturday's defeat, coming on for Morten Frendrup late in the game after shaking off the ankle problem that cost him the Fiorentina match. He has not started since the opening day and has been used mainly from the bench, but if Djibril Sow (thigh) continues to be absent, he should be in the mix for more involvement in midfield alongside Samuel Wiafe and Hamed Traore.
Likely for Roma contest
Amorim (ankle) is probable for Saturday's game versus Roma, Il Secolo XIX reported.
Analysis: Amorim has been training somewhat regularly in the last couple of days and is on track to be a bench option after missing the previous game. He'll contribute to replacing Dijbril Sow (thigh) alongside Hamed Traore and Samuel Wiafe. He has notched at least one cross, totaling 11 (two on target) in all his four showings (one start), adding three key passes, five tackles (two won) and two interceptions.
Ruled out for Fiorentina clash
Amorim hasn't been called up for Saturday's match versus Fiorentina, Genoa announced.
Analysis: Amorim is reportedly dealing with an ankle injury that flared up late in the week after he trained fully in recent days. He was next in line to replace Djibril Sow (thigh) in the midfield. Hamed Traore, Robinho Junior and Gael Lafont are the alternative options.
Leads Genoa in crosses versus Napoli
Amorim registered one shot (one on goal), five crosses (zero accurate) and three corners and won two of three tackles in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Napoli.
Analysis: Amorim got the call over Djibril Sow, who's working on his fitness after a late transfer, and padded his stats through a few set pieces, but he wasn't too accurate. He worked hard in the midfield but will have to show well consistently to stay a regular. He tallied 11 chances created, 16 tackles and eight interceptions in 11 displays (six starts) since joining last January.
Works hard in Atalanta fixture
Amorim had one cross (one accurate), three interceptions and three clearances and created one scoring chance in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Atalanta.
Analysis: Amorim was a big physical presence in the midfield in his third consecutive start, as he's getting more run at the expense of Ruslan Malinovskyi and Junior Messias lately with Genoa not having much on the line. He posted new season highs in the two defensive stats. He has created at least one chance in the last three contests, racking up four and posting four crosses, six tackles (three won) and four interceptions during that stretch.
