He's been a useful midfielder for the Whitecaps, and his absence this week affects their attacking width. With Badwal out, Oliver Larraz will look to return to a starting role.

Badwal (concussion) has returned to training after recovering from his injury and dealing with a personal issue, as coach Jesper Sorensen stated Wednesday "Jeevan unfortunately has a personal issue that keeps him out today. He's good to go, he will be ready for the game this weekend", according to the club.
Analysis: Badwal is expected to bounce back to action soon after being left out of two league contests due to concussion protocol. He was previously enjoying regular playing time, covering different attacking midfield roles over the last few months. With one goal and two assists over the 2026 MLS season, Badwal could give the Whitecaps an interesting offensive weapon to use in the rotation with Emmanuel Sabbi, Thomas Muller and Ryan Gauld at some point in upcoming weeks.
Forced off with concussion Sunday
Badwal left the field under a concussion substitution during Sunday's duel against Seattle Sounders, according to Har Journalist of Canadian Soccer Daily.
Analysis: Badwal was replaced by Rayan Elloumi after only 18 minutes of the weekend match, making his status a worrying problem for the Whitecaps. The attacking midfielder had scored two goals and one assist over his previous five matches played in all competitions, and losing him for upcoming contests would further complicate things for a team that is without Bruno Caicedo (quadriceps), Kwasi Poku (hamstring) and Brian White (hamstring) among offensive options.

Badwal scored one goal and assisted once from one shot and three chances created in Wednesday's 4-3 defeat to FC Cincinnati.
Analysis: Badwal built on his first goal contribution from his last outing by adding two more, registering another assist and his first goal of the season in an impressive display. The midfielder started on the right flank but has shown his value by covering different positions across midfield in recent games, and having now started six consecutive games he has been a consistent presence, taking five shots and creating six chances across that run.

Badwal assisted once to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 4-2 victory versus San Diego FC. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 63rd minute.
Analysis: Badwal made his fifth consecutive start and finally registered his first goal contribution of the season, assisting Brian White's second goal. The midfielder also put in a solid defensive shift with three tackles and two interceptions, bringing his totals across his last three games to five tackles and five interceptions, while also drawing at least two fouls in each of his last five appearances.
