Nets first senior international goal
Abdelkarim scored his first senior international goal during Egypt's 5-0 win over South Sudan and made substitute appearances in all three matches during the international break.
Analysis: Abdelkarim made an impact despite being limited to roughly 53 minutes across the three matches, scoring against South Sudan before threatening twice off the bench against South Africa. The forward returns to Barcelona with more senior international experience but has played just four minutes across one La Liga appearance this season. He remains a depth option in attack, competing with Gabriel Jesus for the backup role behind Raphinha.
Signs contract extension through 2030
Abdelkarim agreed a contract extension with Barcelona through June 2030, according to the club.
Analysis: Abdelkarim joined Barcelona on loan in February before the club exercised a purchase option in the summer, scoring six goals in nine matches for the club's Juvenil A side, including a hat trick in a 9-0 win over Montecarlo that clinched the youth title. The Egyptian forward finished as the club's top scorer in preseason with four goals under coach Hansi Flick, and made his official first team debut against Rayo Vallecano on August 31, with his new deal now securing his long term future at the club.
