Logs 19 minutes Saturday
Arana (international duty) made one tackle (one won) and one clearance in 19 minutes of play during Saturday's 2-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City.
Analysis: Arana was expected to miss this game while representing Mexico at the Under-17 level, but he was ultimately able to record a limited appearance. Still, the young midfielder is likely to stay in a backup role for the remainder of the season, in which case he won't be highly reliable for attacking numbers. He'll aim to see increased action only when Mateusz Bogusz and Agustin Bouzat are rested.
Will represent Mexico U17
Arana has been called up by Mexico U17 for the September-October international break and will therefore miss Saturday's clash against Sporting Kansas City.
Analysis: Arana has been a bench option in the last four games for Houston, contributing two chances created after playing two minutes in the MLS opener. The young midfielder will miss the match against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday due to the call up but should return in time to face Minnesota on October 10. His absence will however not impact the starting XI for Houston.
Appears for a third straight match
Arana recorded no stats in Saturday's 1-0 loss against San Jose Earthquakes.
Analysis: Arana appeared in the season opener for Houston and then didn't appear again until three games ago, although he has yet to miss an appearance since then. That said, the 16-year-old has only entered from the bench, playing 36 minutes this season. This is more of a sign for the future, as he could earn a bigger role moving into next season, but his value remains low at the moment.
