Helps Dortmund to clean sheet
Schlotterbeck blocked two shots, made a tackle and nine clearances during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Union Berlin.
Analysis: Schlotterbeck helped Dortmund to a clean sheet as a member of the team's back line, leading his side in blocked shots. The defender has a goal to go along with five shots, three blocks and 19 clearances over his last three league starts.
Back available after midweek rest
Schlotterbeck is available for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin after being rested for Wednesday's Champions League matchup against Bodo/Glimt, according to coach Niko Kovac, per BVB News Blog. "It looks as though everyone is fit. Schlotti is back."
Analysis: Schlotterbeck is set to return to Dortmund's defensive rotation after being left out of the traveling squad for Wednesday's Champions League fixture in Norway as part of the club's workload management strategy. The center-back previously started Friday's 2-2 Bundesliga draw against Werder Bremen, scoring his first goal of the season while adding four shots, two chances created and three clearances. He has been particularly active across his last three starts, registering five shots, four chances created, 13 tackles and 15 clearances. With manager Kovac confirming his availability, Schlotterbeck should be in contention to reclaim his starting role against Union Berlin after benefiting from additional recovery time during the week.
