Resumes individual field work

Hashioka (neck) returned to individual work on the pitch Tuesday, completing fitness and passing exercises as he continues his recovery from the injury suffered against RB Leipzig, according to the club.

Analysis: Hashioka avoided a serious cervical spine injury following the heavy collision, but the resulting muscular reaction around his neck has continued to limit his progress. His return to field work is encouraging, though coach Eugen Polanski indicated that Hashioka still needs to gradually increase his workload before dealing with contact in full team training. Saturday's trip to Freiburg is therefore likely to come too soon, with Joe Scally expected to remain the primary option at right-back in his absence.

Escapes serious injury

Hashioka (neck) has thankfully escaped a serious injury, though head injuries remain a serious concern and he is not yet fit to train or play in Saturday's clash against Elversberg, according to coach Eugen Polanski. "Daiki Hashioka has thankfully escaped a serious injury. However, head injuries are a serious concern, and he's not yet fit to train or play this weekend. He will be available again in the foreseeable future."

Analysis: Hashioka was stretchered off during the recent loss to RB Leipzig after a collision with Antonio Nusa, requiring lengthy treatment and undergoing X-rays, an MRI and a CT scan while a potential cervical spine injury was investigated. This update is a significant relief given the concerning nature of the incident, and his continued recovery will be monitored as he works toward a return in the coming weeks.
