Bags two assists
Wagner assisted twice to go with 21 crosses (eight accurate) and six corners in Saturday's 3-2 victory versus Atlanta United.
Analysis: Wagner was able to help the Union score two goals Saturday, first linking up with Neil Pierre in the sixth minute of stoppage time to level the match before another assist just a minute later to win the match for his club. This comes in just his third game since joining the club in July, starting in all three games so far. That said, he also has three assists from his left-back spot, adding two tackles won, seven interceptions and 11 clearances in the defense.
Eight crosses against Seattle
Wagner generated two shots (zero on goal), eight crosses (two accurate) and three corners in Saturday's 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC.
Analysis: Wagner registered two shots, three corners and eight crosses (two accurate) across Saturday's 1-0 win over Seattle, operating as Philadelphia's most active wide creative presence and consistently delivering into the box against a Sounders defensive unit that dealt with the aerial threat effectively throughout the second half. The left back's crossing volume and set-piece involvement make him one of the Union's most important attacking contributors alongside Milan Iloski and Frankie Westfield, and his consistent delivery from wide areas will need to be matched by sharper finishing from his teammates if Philadelphia are to convert their territorial dominance into more goals heading into next Saturday's home fixture against Atlanta United.
Strong return to MLS
Wagner had an assist while crossing seven times (two accurate), creating three chances, making five interceptions and three clearances during Wednesday's 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls.
Analysis: Wagner set up Neil Pierre in the 66th minute assisting Philadelphia's final goal while leading the team in crosses, interceptions and clearances. It was Wagner's first assist since returning to the Union from his spell last season at Birmingham City.
Back in Philadelphia
Wagner has completed a permanent transfer on a Designated Player contract to join Philadelphia from Birmingham City, his new club announced Monday.
Analysis: This will be the second stint Wagner will have at Philadelphia after he left to join Birmingham earlier this year. He played for Philly in the previous seven seasons and is the club's all-time leader in assists. He should be a starter on the left side of the defense almost instantly.
