Won't be option Sunday
Gorosabel won't be an option for Sunday's game against Sevilla due to a lingering adductor injury that has affected him since preseason, according to manager Manolo Gonzalez. "He's still dealing with a minor problem that has been lingering since his Athletic days, we want to have him back available soon."
Analysis: Gorosabel will be an option once he's fit, but that won't come this weekend. When healthy, Gorosabel will compete for minutes on the right side of the defense with Omar El Hilali. His next chance to play will come against Osasuna on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Joins Espanyol on loan
Gorosabel joined Espanyol from Athletic Club on loan for the entire 2026/27 season Tuesday. The deal includes a mandatory purchase option if some goals are met.
Analysis: Gorosabel will fill the void left by Ruben Sanchez, who joined Elche on a permanent deal before the end of the summer transfer window. The right-back was essentially the third-string option at the position for Athletic Club, but he should see more playing time at Espanyol due to his experience and defensive-minded approach.
