Out seven to eight weeks
Alfon suffered a fibrillar tear in his right quadriceps, detected during preseason medical exams over the weekend, and will be out for around eight weeks, according to Pablo Sanchez of Diario de Sevilla.
Analysis: Alfon arrived on a free transfer from Celta Vigo last summer before spending the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal, where he also dealt with an injury that limited his playing time. The setback reportedly stems from him pushing to reach full fitness ahead of preseason, which ended up catching up with him and further weakens Sevilla's attacking options to start the new season. With his return unlikely before matchday three or four, Sevilla will need to lean on alternative attacking options at the start of the campaign.
