Cleared to return from injury
Placheta (lower body) is available for Austin FC's clash against Nashville on Saturday after being omitted from the club's latest injury report, indicating he has recovered from his recent setback.
Analysis: Placheta missed Austin's previous matchup against Dallas due to a lower-body injury, marking his first absence of the season. However, his removal from the injury report suggests he has overcome the issue and is ready to return to the matchday squad. The Polish wing-back has primarily served as a rotational option this season, making limited starts on the right flank and logging just 13 minutes across his last two appearances before the injury. His return provides additional depth for Austin, although he is more likely to feature off the bench than immediately reclaim a starting role.
Sidelined by lower body injury
Płacheta will not be available for Austin's next match against Dallas due to lower body injury, according to the club's availability report.
Analysis: Płacheta will sit out for the first time this season, though the absence does little to alter Austin's plans given he has been a rotation option for most of the campaign. The Pole has made only one or two starts at right wing back and has been limited to 13 minutes across the last two games, so his role had already shrunk before the injury arrived.
Three shots in loss
Placheta generated three shots (two on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo.
Analysis: Placheta took three shots and created a chance Saturday and still couldn't get on the scoresheet during the one-sided loss. It was a disappointing match across the board and Placheta just couldn't make a difference. He will hope to carry this sort of volume forward, with a good chance to start scoring if he can do so.
Joins Austin FC through 2029
Placheta signed with Austin FC as a free agent on a deal guaranteed through the 2028-29 season with an option for 2029-30, the club announced.
Analysis: Placheta spent the last six seasons in England, initially joining Norwich City in 2020 and winning promotion to the Premier League before making 12 top-flight appearances the following season. He subsequently had stints at Birmingham City and Swansea before joining Oxford United ahead of the 2024-25 season, where he contributed six goals and four assists across two campaigns. The 28-year-old Polish winger has earned seven senior caps for Poland, including an appearance at Euro 2020 and an assist in World Cup qualifying against San Marino in 2021. He will be eligible to make his MLS debut when Austin's season resumes against Seattle on July 22.
