Nets opener on Saturday
Ruiz scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (one accurate) in Saturday's 3-2 win against Minnesota United.
Analysis: Ruiz netted the opener in the 12th minute from distance. He has featured in 11 games this campaign, but this was just his fourth start and also his first goal.
Moves to LA Galaxy
Ruiz has joined Los Angeles Galaxy from Real Salt Lake, signing a contract guaranteed through December 2026, according to the club.
Analysis: Ruiz will play for his second MLS team after spending the past few years with RSL, where he tallied 194 shots (54 on goal), 340 crosses (90 accurate), 170 chances created, seven goals and 12 assists over 142 league appearances (110 starts). While he holds all-around value as a central midfielder with set-piece skills, he won't be as likely to take corners and free kicks for a squad that also includes Marco Reus. Still, the new signing will aim to challenge Justin Haak and Lucas Sanabria for playing time right away.
Comes off bench
Ruiz registered two tackles (one won) in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Portland Timbers.
Analysis: Ruiz replaced Stijn Spierings in the 89th minute and recorded seven touches. Ruiz has appeared four times this campaign but is yet to start a game.
