Expected to miss months

Gabbia has been diagnosed with a flexor strain with a partial tendon tear, Milan announced.

Analysis: Gabbia will visit a specialist to determine whether he needs surgery, but he's headed for an extended absence no matter what. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he'll be out for three to four months. Koni De Winter and Fikayo Tomori will absorb his playing time in the back.

Carted off against Sassuolo

Gabbia recorded four clearances in 20 minutes before exiting Sunday's clash with Sassuolo because of a thigh injury, La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed.

Analysis: Gabbia drew his first start over Koni De Winter in this one and was serviceable but was stretchered off midway through the first due to a serious-looking muscular problem. He'll take the tests in the next few days.
