Joins Koln
Mensah signed a contract through 2028 with Koln after joining on a free transfer from Auxerre, the club announced.
Analysis: Mensah arrives in Germany following four seasons with Auxerre, where he made 114 appearances and established himself as a dependable option at left-back. The Ghana international brings extensive experience from spells across Austria, Belgium, Portugal and France, along with significant international pedigree. The 27-year-old recently featured in every match for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, helping the Black Stars advance from the group stage before their elimination against Colombia. Known for his defensive discipline and work rate, Mensah is expected to add stability and depth to Koln's back line heading into the new season.
Becomes free agent
Mensah is now a free agent after his contract with Auxerre expired.
Analysis: Mensah departs Auxerre following the conclusion of his deal, leaving him available to negotiate with any interested club. The defender will now look to secure a new destination ahead of the 2026-27 campaign as clubs assess their squad needs heading into preseason. His experience at the professional level should make him an appealing option for sides seeking depth and versatility. Further updates on his next move are expected in the coming weeks.
