Doucoure has yet to appear in a single match to begin the 2026/27 season.
Analysis: Doucoure has not played for Crystal Palace in league play in over a year, having yet to play since a torn ACL that occurred in January of the 2024/25 season. He has been working on his fitness and recovery since then and looked to be an option for the start of the season, although he has yet to see the field in their five games. The hope is that he is just being handled carefully after the long time off, and no risks are being taken, although he doesn't hold any value until his role starts to increase.
In contention against Ipswich
Doucoure (knee) has returned to training and is in contention for Saturday's clash against Ipswich Town after illness delayed his senior comeback, according to coach Pierre Sage. "Cheick trained yesterday and this morning. All will be good for him. He was a little ill, but no, he's fine."
Analysis: Doucoure had been expected to make his first senior appearance in nearly 20 months against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, but illness ultimately kept him out of the squad. The midfielder has since trained on consecutive days and appears to have overcome the illness, putting him back in contention against Ipswich. His minutes are still likely to be carefully managed following his lengthy absence.
