Records 10 clearances in draw
Katic generated one cross (one accurate), 10 clearances and two tackles (one won) in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Bayern Munich. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 73rd minute.
Analysis: Katic made up for the lack of passes with a game-high total of clearances as the home side had to work hard to neutralize an elite opposition. He's now averaging 8.5 clearances and 2.0 tackles per contest during the initial stretch of his first Bundesliga campaign, with the high defensive output likely to remain the trend if his team continues to face consistent challenges going forward. He's currently operating between Hasan Kurucay and Vitalie Becker in the middle of a three-man central defense.
Back at Schalke for testing
Katic is back at Schalke and starting with comprehensive performance diagnostics, according to the club.
Analysis: Katic was one of the more dependable performers for Bosnia and Herzegovina's defense at the World Cup, helping the country reach the knockout stage for the first time in its history through leadership and physicality at the back. His return to club training now shifts the focus to preseason preparations as he looks to build on that tournament form heading into the new 2026/27 Bundesliga season with Schalke.
