Out with thigh injury
Rowles is out for Saturday's game against Montreal due to a thigh injury.
Analysis: Rowles has been a starter in every game he's been available for this season, but he'll have to miss the weekend's clash -- it's just his third absence of the campaign. Rowles has 118 clearances, 28 tackles and 24 interceptions in 17 league starts this season, so his absence will be greatly felt at the back. Sean Nealis could step in as his replacement.
Starting right away
Rowles (undisclosed) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's encounter against Nashville.
Analysis: Rowles is ready to play despite leaving the last match in the 80th minute, and he'll look to complete the full game this time. The center-back is a regular piece of D.C. United's back line and is averaging 7.5 clearances per contest in the 2026 MLS campaign. However, his team is rarely reliable for clean sheets.
Goal and another injury
Rowles scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 2-1 victory versus Toronto FC. He was subbed off due to injury in the 80th minute.
Analysis: From a corner kick, Rowles headed in D.C. United's first goal, his 2026 season's second. Having added to his limited G/A, playing the full game perfectly unscathed would have been all that he wanted. But for the first time this season, Rowles was subbed off, and it appears that an undisclosed knock explains his substitution. Rowles was replaced by Sean Nealis, and it is unknown when the DC team kicks off its August schedule by hosting Nashville SC next Saturday.
Starting after injury recovery
Rowles (thigh) has been included in D.C. United's starting XI in Saturday's meeting against Toronto.
Analysis: Rowles is back in his usual center-back position, giving his side a significant boost at the expense of Sean Nealis. Prior to the issue, Rowles was averaging 7.4 clearances, 1.9 tackles and 1.6 interceptions per game in the current MLS season.
Questionable with thigh issue
Rowles is listed as questionable for Saturday's match against Toronto due to a thigh problem, per the MLS Player Status Report.
Analysis: Rowles is an Australian international center-back who has been one of D.C. United's most dependable defensive pieces, so a thigh discomfort putting him in doubt is a significant issue for the club. If he can't go, D.C.'s back line is short of its best organizer at center-back, but they have previously resorted to Lucas Bartlett and Sean Nealis in Rowles' absence.
Wins three tackles
Rowles recorded three tackles (three won), nine clearances and two interceptions in Sunday's 2-0 victory over New York City FC.
Analysis: Rowles win three tackles while recording nine clearances to help keep the clean sheet for DC United on Sunday. He's been huge defensive help of late with 50 clearances, 10 tackles made and five blocks in just the last five league appearances, helping keep two clean sheets in that span.
Scores game-winner
Rowles scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-2 win against Orlando City SC.
Analysis: Being in the right place at the right time allowed Rowles to log D.C. United's third goal, which he scored with a header after already being in the penalty box on a corner kick. The goal marks his first in 2026, and while him scoring is not expected to be a regular feature moving forward, it looks like he will at least have continued opportunities to score. For the year, Rowles has played all but one of D.C. United's 10 games, the one absence predetermined.
