Starts Saturday

Vera (undisclosed) is in the initial squad to face D.C. United on Saturday.

Analysis: Vera regained health after suffering a minor injury during a training session earlier this week. The center-back will consequently remain active as part of a four-man defense that has been rather vulnerable of late. In any case, he should be able to rack up defensive stats after tallying at least three clearances in each of his last seven league starts. His presence in the lineup leaves Brandan Craig on the bench this time.

Leaves training early

Vera did not complete Wednesday's training session, leaving the field shortly after an 11-vs-11 drill began, with the reason for his early exit not yet disclosed, according to Maxime Truman of DL Coulisses.

Analysis: Vera did not complete Wednesday's training session, leaving the field just minutes into an 11-vs-11 drill, and the reason behind his early exit has not yet been disclosed. If it turns out to be injury related, it would compound an already thin center back group for CF Montreal, especially with Efrain Morales already considered likely to be sidelined and Brandan Craig also failing to finish the same session. Should those absences hold, it would open the door for Brayan Ceballos to get his first minutes with the club at center back.

Scores long-range rocket in draw

Vera scored one goal to go with three shots (two on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 2-2 draw against New England Revolution. He also added five clearances, one blocked shot and one tackle.

Analysis: Vera scored one of the best goals in the 2026 MLS season with a long-range bomb that went straight into the roof of the net past Sebastian Breza. The defender is more known for his defensive work, though. This was just his first goal of the season, but he's also averaging a strong 4.75 clearances per game.

Helps Montreal to clean sheet

Vera made an interception and three clearances during Thursday's 0-0 draw with Montreal.

Analysis: Vera finished with the second most clearances on the team while helping Montreal to a clean sheet. The defender has combined for 14 clearances, five interceptions and four tackles over his last three starts.

Clears suspension

Vera has served his one match suspension and will be an option for the clash with Portland on Wednesday.

Analysis: Vera is back and expected to return to the lineup Wednesday after missing the last match through suspension. He's helped keep three clean sheets through nine MLS matches for Montreal, making 43 clearances with three blocks and completing 17 tackles.

Sent off against Atlanta

Vera received a straight red card during Saturday's 3-1 loss to Atlanta United.

Analysis: Vera picked up a late red card for violent conduct after playing almost the full match as a center-back. This event means he'll be ineligible for at least one MLS match, sitting out next weekend against Orlando. Therefore, his earliest return would come in a subsequent fixture versus Portland. His place in the back line could be filled by Jalen Neal or, if fit, Tomas Aviles (hamstring).
