Suspended for second straight match

Westwood is suspended for a second consecutive match, this time against Cincinnati on Saturday due to yellow card accumulation, following his red card suspension for the Sept. 9 match against Montreal, according to the MLS.

Analysis: Westwood's continued absence extends the opportunity for Luca de la Torre to hold down his spot in the lineup, with Pep Biel also seeing increased set piece opportunities in the meantime. His path back into the squad will now come after this second suspension is served, pushing his return further out than initially expected.

Sent off Saturday

Westwood was shown a red card during the second half of Saturday's match against Houston Dynamo.

Analysis: Westwood was unable to make his usual impact and ended up receiving a second booking for an argument in the weekend's game. This makes the midfielder ineligible for the next MLS visit to Montreal, with his next chance to appear coming Sept. 12 at Cincinnati. Brandt Bronico may bounce back to the starting lineup, and Pep Biel should see his set-piece numbers increased while Westwood is banned.

Westwood assisted twice to go with one shot (one on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and three corners in Wednesday's 3-3 draw against Toronto FC.

Analysis: Westwood assisted twice during Wednesday's draw. The midfielder took three corners and sent in three crosses as well. He was a dynamo in the midfield throughout the matcha and caused plenty of issues for the backline. He will be a big part of the attack going forward.

Back from suspension

Westwood has served his one-match suspension and is available for Saturday's clash against Toronto.

Analysis: Westwood had been forced to sit out Wednesday's fixture against NYCFC after accumulating five yellow cards in MLS competition, with Luca de la Torre covering in his absence. The midfielder has started all but one match this season and his return gives the club their preferred midfield setup back heading into the weekend clash against Toronto.

Set for suspension

Westwood is suspended for one match due to yellow card accumulation.

Analysis: Westwood is heading to the sidelines for a match after already reaching five yellow cards this season, suspended for their match against NYCFC on May 13. This will leave the club without a starting midfielder, as he has started in all but one game this season, leaving Brandt Bronico or Luca de la Torre to start in his place. He will next be an option when facing Toronto on May 16.

Assists in loss

Westwood took zero shots, sent in five crosses, took four corner kicks, created four chances, and assisted in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Nashville SC.

Analysis: Westwood delivered a strong performance despite another loss for Charlotte FC. The defensive midfielder comes with some attacking upside given his role on set pieces. He'll look to help Charlotte get back on track in another tough road tilt at New England on Saturday.
