Assists on pair of chances
El Shaarawy assisted once to go with zero corners and two chances created in Sunday's 1-0 win versus Venezia.
Analysis: El Shaarawy created a pair of chances during Sunday's win and turned that into the game-winning assist. It was an excellent showing from the veteran winger as he proved to be talented enough to be a difference-maker. Venezia controlled large portions of the match, but El Shaarawy did enough to secure the goal and all three points.
Frustrated in defeat
El Shaarawy had two shots (zero on goal) in Saturday's 2-0 defeat versus Roma.
Analysis: El Shaarawy sent in a pair of poor shots during Saturday's loss. Neither of them was on target and neither was particularly threatening to the backline. The winger simply wasn't very productive throughout the match. El Shaarawy should have better days ahead, perhaps against some teams further down the table.
Draws first start versus Fiorentina
El Shaarawy had three shots (two on goal) and two crosses (zero accurate) and committed one foul in Saturday's 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
Analysis: El Shaarawy took advantage of the break to work on his conditioning and of a couple of absences to get the nod for the first time, as the boss tweaked the formation. He paced his team in attempts but was denied twice. He has sent in at least one cross in his three appearances, totaling five (zero accurate), and posting also four tackles (two won).
Returns to Genoa
El Shaarawy has agreed to a contract with Genoa.
Analysis: El Shaarawy spent the summer as a free agent after his deal with Roma and is returning to one of his very first clubs. He registered two goals and two assists, adding 30 shots (13 on target), 18 chances created and 27 crosses (three accurate) in 27 games (eight starts) in 2025/2026, as he generally has a small role. He'll be able to play either as a no.10 or on the left wing, contributing to replacing Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
Scores off bench
El Shaarawy scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Sunday's 2-0 win against Verona.
Analysis: The attacker found the back of the net in what will be his final game for Roma, as his contract is not being renewed by the club. El Shaarawy struggled mightily this season, with just one goal and two assists in Serie A play.
