Set to rejoin defensive rotation
Diaz is expected to be an option for Saturday's MLS clash against FC Cincinnati after returning from international duty with Chile and being left off Atlanta United's latest injury report.
Analysis: Diaz has completed his international commitments with Chile and appears ready to return to Atlanta's defensive rotation after missing the previous matchup against New York City due to his national team involvement. The center-back had started five of the club's previous six MLS matches before the break, establishing himself as a regular presence in the back line. With Diego Alonso also returning from international duty with Paraguay, Diaz will compete with Enea Mihaj for a starting role against Cincinnati as Atlanta regains its defensive options.
Called up with Chile
Diaz has been called up by Chile for the matches against Canada and USA on September 26 and September 29, respectively.
Analysis: Diaz has in five of the last six MLS games for Atlanta and due to the call-up, he will miss the match against New York City on Saturday but should return in time to face Cincinnati on October 10. Enea Mihaj will likely replace him in central defense on Saturday.
