Poor defending against Belgium
Ream recorded one clearance and two interceptions in Monday's 4-1 loss to Belgium.
Analysis: Ream had a terrible end to his World Cup campaign, with his 81 accurate passes not enough to offset the limited defensive output and an error leading to a goal during the elimination defeat. He served as a frequent starter in what could have been his final appearance in the national-team competition. Statistically, most of his production came from passes, clearances and tackles, with his team's dominance in the initial matched allowing him to achieve two clean sheets as well.
Five clearances Wednesday
Ream registered five clearancesand one interception in Wednesday's 2-0 victory versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Analysis: Ream captained the USA team to a knockout win Wednesday, as the defender played the full 90 minutes in the defense. He would help the team to a clean sheet as well, recording one interception and five clearances in defense. The veteran has proved strong thus far despite some doubts about his starting capabilities at the World Cup, starting in four of the five games thus far and playing the full 90 in all four starts.
