Resumes rotational midfield role
Ruiz has returned to New York Red Bulls following international duty with Honduras and is available for Saturday's MLS clash against San Diego FC after being omitted from the league's latest injury report.
Analysis: Ruiz missed the matchup against St. Louis City SC while representing Honduras in the CONCACAF Nations League but is now back in contention for midfield minutes. The midfielder has made three appearances for New York since joining on loan from Inter Miami in September, all coming off the bench. He entered the international break with 10 senior caps and three goals for Honduras, bringing valuable international experience to the Red Bulls' midfield depth. However, Ruiz is expected to remain a rotational option against San Diego rather than immediately challenge for a starting role.
Joins Honduras for international duty
Ruiz has been selected to the Honduras national team roster for the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches and will miss Saturday's clash against St. Louis due to the call up, returning for the match against San Diego on October 10, according to the club.
Analysis: Ruiz has featured off the bench in all three of his New York Red Bulls appearances since joining on loan from Inter Miami earlier this month, so his absence should not impact the starting lineup. He has made 10 career appearances for Honduras with three goals, and this window gives him a chance to add to that tally across four matches.
