Suspended for Wednesday
Bazan recorded two tackles (one won), six clearances and two interceptions in Saturday's 2-0 win over Inter Miami CF. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 80th minute and is set for a one match suspension.
Analysis: Bazan will serve his first suspension of the season after picking up his fifth yellow card. He has been a mainstay in the Red Bulls' lineup, starting each of the last 15 matches and recording 79 clearances, 33 tackles and 13 blocks while helping the team keep four clean sheets during that span. His absence will likely open the door for Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty to feature in the starting XI during Wednesday's trip to New England.
Shines defensively despite defeat
Bazan registered one shot (zero on goal) and two chances created in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Toronto FC.
Analysis: Bazan put together a strong defensive display despite Red Bull New York's 2-0 loss to Toronto on Saturday. The center back won all four of his tackles and added three interceptions and four clearances in a game where New York trailed from the third minute after a Justin Che own goal. The Colombian was also involved going forward with a shot from distance and two chances created. He has been a fixture in the New York back line, and while the team has struggled for clean sheets, his output has stayed impressive with 12 tackles, 12 interceptions, 21 clearances and four blocks over the last five games.
