Signs with New York City
Miazga has been claimed off waivers by New York City FC through the end of the 2026 season, the club announced.
Analysis: Matt Miazga has joined New York City off waivers after five seasons with FC Cincinnati, bringing crucial defensive reinforcement to the club's playoff push. The 28-time U.S. international made 108 appearances for Cincinnati, where he anchored the backline during their 2023 Supporters' Shield triumph and earned MLS Defender of the Year honors. His arrival adds proven title-winning experience and depth to New York City's defense.
Ban served
Miazga has served his one match suspension and is expected to make an appearance on Aug 15 vs Orlando.
Analysis: Miazga remains a critical foundation for Cincy's attack since his return from injury, already recording 55 clearances in the 11 matches played this season. As a veteran in the league, the defender will continue to get regular starts, especially if he can stay healthy.
