Joins Crystal Palace
Timber has completed a transfer to Crystal Palace following his exit from Ligue 1 squad Marseille, the club announced Tuesday.
Analysis: Timber will reinforce a Palace midfield that lacked a more dynamic alternative to Daichi Kamada, Adam Wharton and Jefferson Lerma. The 25-year-old has also played on the left wing at times, so his exact role in his new team remains unclear. He recently represented the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup, where he recorded 54 minutes of play as a substitute. Before that, he had seen his most successful moments while playing for Feyenoord in Eredivisie at the beginning of the 2025/26 season.

Timber is eligible going forward after serving a yellow card accumulation ban in the season opener against Strasbourg.
Analysis: Timber's return is welcome news for a Marseille side that scored four goals in the first game of the season and should only look stronger with increased midfield talent. He was a consistent performer during the early months of 2026, tallying 10 shots, eight chances created and 31 tackles (16 won) over 15 Ligue 1 appearances (14 starts). Assuming he'll eventually bounce back into a major role, his presence will threaten Himad Abdelli and Angel Gomes in terms of playing time.
