Returns as starter after illness
Ragen (illness) has been included in the starting lineup for Saturday's visit to San Diego.
Analysis: Ragen makes an immediate return to his regular center-back role, featuring alongside Alexander Roldan while Yeimar Gomez sits out through a hamstring issue. The experienced defender should be fit enough for a 90-minute outing, in which case he may be relied on for his averages of 5.9 clearances, 4.7 balls recovered and 1.1 tackles per game, as well as decent clean sheet chances as part of the league's fourth-best defense.
Likely available after illness
Ragen (illness) has been a full participant in training and appears to be over the flu, though coach Brian Schmetzer said he is still working to fully recover, according to Niko Moreno.
Analysis: Ragen missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Montreal because of the flu, and Ryan Sailor made a rare start in his place. The centre back has since been a full participant in training, though Schmetzer said he lost some weight and remains somewhat weakened. He is likely to be available for the weekend, which would restore a regular starter to the heart of the defence.
