Steady presence at left-back
Berchiche has started in every game he's been available for Athletic Club in the 2026/27 LaLiga season.
Analysis: Berchiche missed the 2-0 loss to FC Barcelona on Aug. 27 after being sent off in the opener against Sevilla, but he's started every game since then. All signs point to the veteran defender staying as the first-choice left-back moving forward. Yuri has 11 shots, six chances created, 13 crosses, nine tackles and seven clearances across six starts in 2026/27.
Eligible again
Berchiche served his red-card ban in Thursday's clash against Barcelona and could return to action in subsequent fixtures.
Analysis: Berchiche started in the opening game of the season when he was sent off early, so he should now see his first real opportunities to produce if he avoids disciplinary issues in upcoming weeks. His inclusion at the expense of Johaneko Louis-Jean would give the Bilbao side more experience on the left defensive flank. Additionally, the veteran offers some attacking upside after scoring once in a preseason friendly and recording three assists over his last six league matches played.
