Back in contention against Cincinnati
Alonso has returned from international duty with Paraguay and appears available for Saturday's MLS clash against FC Cincinnati after being omitted from Atlanta United's latest injury report.
Analysis: Alonso is expected to resume his regular role in Atlanta's back line after completing his international commitments with Paraguay without any reported fitness concerns. The veteran center-back has established himself as a key starter since joining the Five Stripes following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in all 11 matches he's been available for while recording 53 clearances, 15 tackles and nine interceptions. His return provides an important boost to Atlanta's defensive unit ahead of Saturday's matchup, with Alonso expected to compete for a starting spot alongside Enea Mihaj.
Called up by Paraguay NT
Alonso has been called up by Paraguay for the upcoming international break in September and October.
Analysis: Alonso joined Atlanta United after the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has been a regular starter at the back for the Five Stripes, appearing in all 11 games he's been available for while racking up 53 clearances, 15 tackles, and nine interceptions. His loss will be a sizable one for Atlanta, especially since Paulo Diaz is also away on international duty with Chile. The lack of depth at the back could lead to youngster Dominik Chong-Qui earning a spot start alongside Enea Mihaj at center-back.
