Hanche-Olsen completed a transfer from Mainz to Chicago Fire on Tuesday.
Analysis: The versatile defender played fewer than 20 matches in three of his four Bundesliga campaigns with Mainz, and he's decided to move to a completely different league as a result of his lack of playing time in recent years. Thanks to his experience in the Bundesliga, it wouldn't be surprising if Hanche-Olsen becomes a regular starter in the Fire's backline relatively quickly.
