Calf issue extends injury run
Gomis has been ruled out for Saturday's visit to Columbus after sustaining a calf problem, the league reported Friday.
Analysis: Gomis has had a rough road since Achilles surgery in May 2025, as he played only six MLS games last season and was not back on a match squad until a bench spot in early May. A thigh problem then cost him more time over the summer, and the defender now has a calf issue added to the list. Toronto is also without Kobe Franklin (shoulder), and Walker Zimmerman (ankle), which magnifies the absence. Such situation makes Benjamin Kuscevic and Zane Monlouis the likeliest starters at center-back.

Gomis (thigh) recorded 12 minutes of play as a substitute in Saturday's 2-1 win over Inter Miami.
Analysis: Gomis failed to touch the ball during his first appearance since recovering from a muscular issue that left him out for three months, but his presence opened up the possibility for Totonto to try a back-three system. He's not yet in ideal form to start after taking part in only three MLS games throughout the year, so he'll likely see limited minutes on the field while Walker Zimmerman, Benjamin Kuscevic and Zane Monlouis stay ahead in the race for center-back spots.
